Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of makeacoverletter.com (the "Service"), operated by Make a Cover Letter, Massachusetts, USA ("we", "us"). By creating an account you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old. You need a valid email address and a mobile phone number that can receive text messages. One account per person; one phone number per account. You are responsible for keeping your password and authentication codes secret.

2. Text messages

We send one-time passcodes by SMS to verify your phone number and to secure each sign-in. Message frequency depends on how often you sign in. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out; doing so disables SMS sign-in, and you can use an authenticator app instead. Reply HELP or email support@makeacoverletter.com for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

3. The Service

The Service uses artificial intelligence to draft cover letters and suggest resume edits based on the resume and job posting you provide. Output is generated automatically and may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying all content before using it. We do not guarantee interviews, offers, or any employment outcome. Do not rely on the Service to state facts about yourself that are not true.

4. Plans, billing, and automatic renewal

The Free plan includes one generation per calendar month (UTC). The Pro plan is $20 per month plus applicable tax and includes ten generations per calendar month. Pro renews automatically every month and your payment method is charged $20 plus tax on each renewal until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Manage subscription on the Pricing page or by emailing support@makeacoverletter.com; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you keep access until then. Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice by email. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your full card number. See our Refund Policy.

5. Acceptable use

You may use the Service only for your own job applications. You may not: upload content you do not have the right to use; attempt to extract our prompts or manipulate the AI; probe, scan, or overload the Service; create accounts by automated means or with false information; or use the Service for anything unlawful. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Your content

You own your resume, notes, and the output we generate for you. You grant us a limited license to process your content solely to provide the Service. We delete uploaded resumes and generated results automatically seven days after creation. We do not use your content to train AI models and do not sell it.

7. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED.

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, AND WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOST OPPORTUNITIES, INCOME, OR EMPLOYMENT. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the account menu; this erases your data (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate the Service or your account for breach of these Terms or if we discontinue the Service, with a pro-rated refund of any prepaid, unused Pro time in the latter case.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Essex County, Massachusetts, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. Nothing here limits consumer rights you have under the law of your place of residence.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced by email or a notice on the site at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date is acceptance.
